PACKAGING
(SEEDS AND BEETS)

MANDATE

This project was to create a captivating and unique packaging design for the Marché Publics de Montréal. A Montréal market with 5 locations and over 200 merchants. The design had to reflect the essence of the local market while showcasing the natural and vibrant qualities of their products.

IDEATION

My main idea was trying to create something that wouldn’t be seen as seed or beet packaging, something out of the ordinary, but really focusing on the vibrancy of the fruits/ vegetables and the naturalness of the product.

APPROACH

I wanted to design something that would visually stand out compared to the other markets. Which is why I decided to use vibrant paper. It’s something you wouldn’t see in seed packaging, but yet would capture your eye. Also, using type in an organic way relating it to the fruit/vegetables shows the naturalness of the product and what you’re purchasing.

I used the beets for the derived product for my second packaging, which I designed beet chips for red, golden, and chioggia beets. Keeping the same idea with the letter “B” and the vibrant paper. This time I wanted to be able to see the stunning colors of the different beets. Which is why I made the packaging die cut and in a clear bag.

OUTCOME

Having to work hands on for this project allowed me to engage in different materials which I never explored  with, it was a fun element into the creative journey as it brought its own unique personality to the project.
