MUSIC POSTER + VINYL
(PERPETULUM)

MANDATE

Philip Glass is a composer and one of the most influential figures in contemporary classical music. The poster had to capture the essence of his music, and convey the characteristics of Glass’ minimalist style and repetitive patterns for his album “Perpetulum”.

IDEATION

His minimalist style and repetitive patterns are kind of mesmerizing in a way. You hear and feel a lot of motion when listening to the album, which is something I really wanted to focus on when creating this poster.

APPROACH

The music allowed me to guide my creative process, resulting in a design that you can feel the movement and repetitiveness in the design. The continuous lines and the flow of the poster makes you feel as if you were listening to Perpetulum. Having a dark poster with vibrant colors captures towards the continuous lines leaving the feeling that you’re a part of the motion in the poster.

The vinyl was a harder part of the process, since I had to fit all the information on a small packaging. I wanted to still keep the affect of the motion in the word “Perpetulum” which I chose to die cut. The sleeve has the repetitive lines which when closed you can still read. The inner jacket is purple, the inner sleeve is pink, and the vinyl matches the inner jacket.
