METRO PUBLICATION
(ART IN THE NETWORK)

MANDATE

To produce a catalog that lists and showcases the diverse range of artwork located within the Montreal metro system. Montreal’s metro stations feature a variety of public art, highlighting creations by up-and-coming artists.

IDEATION

Spanning murals to sculptures, the diverse artwork within the metro provides a distinct cultural encounter for both commuters and tourists. I wanted to incorporate one of the materials of various artworks in the metro like stained-glass.

APPROACH

For this idea, something see through and colorful was needed. I than thought of the idea of using colorful acetate to represent the stained-glass. This aspect is used as a divider for each sections. The sections correspond to each metro line (orange, green, blue and yellow). Each sections text and sheet is the color of the line.

The acetate sheet highlights the text, giving the reader an idea of which metro stations I am talking about. The clear acrylic book covers also represents the glass in the metro’s artworks. The book itself represents the essence of the metro’s artwork.

OUTCOME

Having to work hands on for this project allowed me to engage in different materials which I never explored  with, it was a fun element into the creative journey as it brought its own unique personality to the project.
